The limitations of using virgin paperboard

A quick "solution" to the problem of MOSH/MOAH migration has been a return to virgin paperboard for some food packaging applications. There are two obvious problems with this:

Most primary food packaging is packed in carton boxes for storage and distribution. For cost reasons, these boxes are made from recycled paperboard, and can themselves be a source of MOSH/MOAH and other contaminants.  Virgin paperboard may contain fewer contaminants itself, but it remains permeable to contamination from other sources.

Adding a thin functional layer of EVAL™ between the food contents and all external packaging not only stops migration, but makes it possible to return to recycled paperboard use even for the primary packaging.

EVAL™ provides protection against all sources of external contamination.
