Coextrusion in multilayer tubes

In the cosmetic or food packaging field, the EVAL™ coextruded tubes are used to improve the barrier properties to gases, flavours or aromas of polyethylene.

Tubes can also be produced by proper welding of a cast coextruded structure (see the technical document cast film coextrusion of EVAL™ resins).

The EVAL™ resins for coextrusion

Several types of EVAL™ resin can be coextruded into multilayer tubes. The material will be chosen based on the processing considerations, the final required properties or the dimension of the final product. The EVAL™ F101B and F171B are the standard resins suitable to produce multilayer tubes. An improvement of the flexibility that is required in some tubing applications can be obtained by using the EVAL™ E105B instead of the EVAL™ F101B which provides improved barrier performances.
